BandThe NameThe name, The Seal Cub Clubbing Club in case you forgot, HistoryNik plays the guitar and sings, Si plays guitar and occasionally bass, Andy R plays a keyboard, John plays bass and occasionally a keyboard and Andy T bangs the drums. As friends of friends at school in The Wirral, The Seal Cub Clubbing Club started off playing Prog-Reggae in summer 2003. Initial members (Andy Rostran, Si Stevens, Nik Glover) got a gig with the Laze at a Beach gig in West Kirby. Drafting in Tear guitarist John Biddle in place of an absent Si,the line-up consisted of three guitarists, no bassist and no drums. Post gig, John was asked to join, and with the addition of Andy Thompson (also of Tear) on the drums, the line-up was complete. In their first gig, on a beach in West Kirby, a Seal Cubs lineup consisting of three guitarists and little else was interrupted after half-an-hour due to a power failure. They went on to play at the VALHALLA club night, set up by The Laze at the Zanzibar in Liverpool in an effort to play with the bands they wanted to. In January 2005, the Number One In A Serious EP was released on their own mini Boon(e) label. It was placed in the recommended section of Rough Trade Records and received airplay from Steve Lamacq. After more gigs and a nationwide tour with Brakes and Chris TT, they released The Seal Cub Clubbing Club EP on 21st November 2005. The EP gained positive reviews from the Channel 4 website and Rough Trade Records. The Seal Cub Clubbing Club EP II on Nomadic on 27th March 2006. Following it's release, the band played an XFM session and even recorded an interview for Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music. In August 2006 the band played the Leeds Festival in the early afternoon on the Comedy stage to a couple of dozen people and in August they toured the country in support of British Sea Power, this is when the band started selling their own very snazzy t-shirts. World Of Fashion was released in November 2006 on Nomadic receiving airplay from Steve Lamacq and Huw Stevens on BBC Radio 1. This was followed by nationwide headlining tour and then a tour in support of Black Wire. A brief headline tour was completed in March 2007 with other sporadic gigs at the same time. It was announced in September 2007 that keyboarder Andy Rostron would be leaving the band with immediate effect. He was replaced with Jay Freeman. FutureAn album, Super Science Fiction was recorded in France over the summer of 2006 and it is due for release in summer 2008. A new single, Maid of Magic and a headlining tour is expected around the same time. The band are scheduled to play this years Glastonbury festival as well as other slightly less famous events, all of which can be found on our gig listing. |

This site was made by Simon Lawson in 2007 and he hopes the band likes it. If you want to make something of it, please use the contact page. If you want the real Seal Cub Clubbing Club site, go here. This site is powered by Wordpress and a lot of crappy programming. |
